Plan for my original photography

Original photography plan
Location
The first attempt of my original photography I used a white door which I thought was suitable for the images however this occurred to not look as I thought therefore I decided to but a plain white sheet up to cut out any possible background colours or objects. I did this as when it comes to editing the images through paint.net it would go a lot quicker and take less time to edit.
Model
I have chosen my friend Megan to feature in my magazine as the cover star as I believe she  is worthy of the magazine as she is not just the stereotypical celebrity who is stick thin in fact she has a curvy body which will send out a positive vibe to my demographic. Also the fact that the target audience is young females’ she will act as a suitable role model.
Hair
There are different varieties of hairstyles included in the photography as I thought this will give me a rage of styles to choose from also express her personality to the demographic as very outgoing and not afraid to do something out of her comfort zone. The main style I found useful was the hair down scruffy looking as this created an edgy look which I think the audience will appreciate. I wasn’t very keen on the images with her hair up as she didn’t look appealing towards the younger generation in fact she look to informal which isn’t the vibe the magazine will be sending out.
Clothing
The clothes that were shown in the images didn’t really do justice as they were very boring and plain which is something I need to work on and maybe change to make the magazine unique. I did change the outfits throughout however I think there needed to be more colourful and vibrant to brighten up the magazine.
Body Language
The body language I wanted to be portrayed was two completely different observations one to be innocent and vulnerable and another of a rebellious strike who is the disobedient student maybe a cycle to show the before and after fame. The facial expressions linked in with the mast head which shows the lips pouting as my magazine is called LIPS this tied in all together very will and is almost like a signature expression.

Draft of Double Page Spread

This is my mock up for my double page spread which will be how my final piece will eventually look like i have chosen to use columns instead of paragraphs as i think this is more likely what will be used in an interview included in a magazine. The tone and language i must use has to link with the demographic for them to be able to understand and relate with the article and give them positive information. I will be including an image however i am not entirely sure what type of shot as her i have included a medium close up but this might alternate to a long shot as i do not want to repeat the camera angles i would like to have a variety. The quote used will be stated in the article but just gives the audience a first insight from first glance.

Draft of Contents Page

This is the mock-up of my contents page in which i have included the music charts however after practising on paint.net i don’t think i will include this due to the lack of space. The camera shot used is a long shot which shows a variety of camera angles used throughout the magazine. The sub heading contents is going to dangle slightly down by the masthead to show the two contrasting colours which are also very bright and brings out a more girly feminine atmosphere. The numbers that will be listed will not go in order as this will indicate that number of pages for each article as I have found through researching this is very common.

Draft of front cover of magazine

This is a mock-up of how my magazine should look as the image shows i want to include a medium close of my cover star so that the audience is able to clearly understand her facial expressions. There will be a variety of cover lines as this is mainly the basis of a magazine and inform the reader of what the magazine includes. However they will all have a connection with the genre of my magazine which is music and also the demographic. The pug and puffs will be included to entice the audience to want to buy the magazine from firs glance at the front cover.

Front Cover Pixie Lott

This is a first attempt of completing a full front cover of a magazine which I found difficult using paint.net. I have come up with my own masthead and cover lines which are centred on the left hand side of the page vertically. The masthead dominated the page identifying the fact that this is the name of the magazine as I want the audience to familiarise themselves with this so it becomes a popular music magazine. The house colours are feminine as the demographic are young females therefore the different shades of pink suggest the colourful personalities. The essentials of a magazine have been included such as a barcode, date line and price which show my basic understanding of a magazine layout as these are crucial to be included as with out a barcode it would be impossible to sell.

For improvements I am going to make sure for my final magazine that the use of images are clean cut by using and effect called feathering on pain.net as I have accidently cut of the cover stars arm which shows my work to be unprofessional also the use of pugs and puffs need to be included to entice the audience to buy the magazine. The magazine also seems a bit empty therefore I need some more images included and more cover lines that fill the page so that the demographic are kept entertained whilst reading it.

Possible magazine names

I have included some masthead possibilities that i will include in my magazine, i choose wham as it gives the magazine a urban twist as the word wham relates to the band that occurred in the 80s. However having taking into consideration my target audience as young females, mainly teenagers i have chosen not to use wham as this will not be of any interest towards the audience and therefore considered other possibilities such as lips as this will enable the demographic to connect more with the name as is it less complex and able to understand where it generates from.

Research into music magazines

Billboard is the world's most influential music media brand reaching key executives and tastemakers in and around the music. The Billboard magazine is sold at magazinecafeny.com for $6.99, It is a weekly publication and they sell the subscription of 51 issues for $346.00.

About NME Magazine
The New Musical Express, popularly known by the initialism NME, created by Theodore Lloyd-Jones, is a music publication in the United Kingdom, published weekly since March 1952. It started as a music newspaper, and gradually moved toward a magazine format during the 1980s. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart,  the 14 November 1952 edition. In the 1970s it became the best-selling British music newspaper. It is weekly, out every Wednesday. Current price is £2.20. Compared to 'Q' magazine's logo, 'NME' is much more bold and informal with their use of colours and font. the colour of the actual logo's name is bright red, very similar to the background of 'Q' magazine. This is to make the logo more noticeable from other magazines on the current market, combined with the contrasting white around the lettering to make it seem even more bold and noticeable, with the main reason behind the bold use of colours being for it to get noticed over the other magazines that out today.

About Q magazine The monthly cost of Q magazine is £3.70 an issue, but they offer a deal were you can buy a year’s worth for £30 meaning that eventually you will have only spent £2.50 on each issue. I like this idea as offers the audience their favourable magazine for a good price which would hopefully mean better sales. However, i have decided to make my magazine a weekly edition so i don’t believe this strategy would be beneficial to my magazine although i could come up with a similar idea to promote some form of discount. Q magazine's logo is very simple but effective. The name of the magazine is in white but inside a red box. This makes the logo stand out from the crowd and more likely to be seen over other magazines on the shelf. The use of the letter 'Q' was chosen as it is easy to remember and quite different from other magazine titles, this also be chosen for the purpose of standing out and being significant.

We Love Pop
We love pop is a monthly music magazine which sells for £2.99 for every issue sold. This is a reasonable price for a monthly magazine as it is not under or overpriced. As the target audience is younger teenage females aged 13-15. The logo is very girly as the image of the pink heart is informal as they do not use the word ‘love’ this appeals to the specific target audience which is the young generation suggesting that they are more interested in looking a images rather than reading the articles.

Images Rita Ora

Rita Ora has become a pop sensation over the last year specifically in pop music which is the genre of my music magazine. I have collected an image of Rita and experimented with the different effects which I used on paint.net, my particular favourite is the bottom right as this has highlights the image very brightly suggesting a joyful mood. As the magazines target audience is aimed at young females this is the type of mood i would like to foreshadow. However I am also fond of the faded black out picture which is second from the bottom on the left as this is just simple, outlining her beauty, indicating she wants the audience to focus on her music rather than her costume and make up.

Content pages

I like how this magazine has separated their information through using boxes as this gives a clear indication to the audience what page each article is on. Also the use of sub headings shows the audience were to head for something exact they may be looking for. The house style that is used throughout Top of the Pops magazine has been continued here using bright girly colours to attract the target audience in this case is young teenage girls. This is something i will bear in mind whilst creating my contents page as i feel consistency is important to include. The font that has been used for the mast head is very curly so you know that it is the serif font style making the text have the effect of it been hand written. This font attracts the target audience because it is a nice font to clearly read and the reader can read it easily. This is essential to use in my magazine as i feel the audience must be able to understand the text otherwise there is no point creating the magazine.
The Q contents page is not over crowded with lots of information which i like as the audience may sometimes be put off reading all the information needed, this is something to include in my contents page due to the age rage as young teenage girls might not want to be over crowded with text and can be off putting. Cheryl Cole is the main cover star for this contents page as the image has been enlarged compared to the other images showing she is the main priority. The left hand side of the contents page is filled with listed information of where you can find each article as they are also underlined. I also like the fact that 'Q' magazine is consistent as the masthead used in the contents page is the same one used in the front cover of the magazine.

This contents page is quite functional, but less traditional. To the very left of the page is a list of the music charts this makes it obvious to the reader that this magazine is all about the music I really like this as it shows valid information for the reader to read which is very intriguing and will make the readers want to buy the magazine to find out the chart toppers however i feel that this may overcrowd the page and be too much information to include for the age rage as there will   be a lot of numbers and text involved. The title is at the top of the page, in large black font, with white lines through it, making it look more modern and less traditional.
